Arnold B. Jacobs DDS

My decision to become a dentist was made as an undergraduate physics major at UC Berkeley. While attending a career fair I had the privilege of meeting Alton Lacy DDS from UCSF. His presentation was inspiring and he continued to mentor me at school. The combination of the medical challenge and using my hands to create health for others fit perfectly with my goals and aspirations as a young man. This understanding and practice grew during my years at UCSF dental school. More important than graduating with honors and awards was my growth into a rewarding career I could feel passionate about, while serving the needs of my patients.

Always inspired to create objects with my hands, one of my greatest joys is fabricating crowns for my patients. This pursuit started in dental school when many of my professors asked me to do the lab work for their private patients. This continues in my private practice. Using the best quality materials and my clinical experience has been instrumental in customizing each crown to the specific requirements of each patient.

My personal activities include being involved in the lives of my grown children. Sharing their hopes and dreams brings an important link to a whole balanced lifestyle. My special someone is always there to support and nurture our relationship. She also shares in my hobbies, travel, and brings a fresh perspective, which I have learned to respect and appreciate. This balance keeps me grounded and contributes to my overall happiness.

My other interests include running, gardening, and diving into new challenging technologies as well as repairing vintage tube audio equipment. As a young adult electronics had been a keen interest. Influenced by my father (an early developer of the transistor), and summer jobs at Intel and other Silicon Valley companies, I enjoy understanding and improving on the machines that surround me. Constantly working with my hands to solve life’s challenges continues to inspire and motivate me to improve myself and those that have trusted me to share their life.
